Bush Icon Gallery

I don’t know why I just got an urge to make a Bush Icon directory. Most of these images are in jpeg format. You will have to convert them, but they are to size. No more than 50×50. Then you can use them for the nifty little image next to the url if you rename them favicon.ico after saving them in .bmp format.

Free Open Source PHP Game – Monocountry

This is a file I thought I had lost and would not be able to replace. When I got the Monocountry code it was open source. Now Monocountry is considered simple and outdated but it is the basic framework you need to start a nice php game.

Download Monocountry

If you liked this download you should also check out Kiddie Kartel I found it on the same website for download and if I remember correctly you set up lemonade stands. I’ll see when I set up the demo later.

If you have any problems downloading this script you should check the new landing page on the Web Development Blog.

Thai Basil & Eggplant Stir Fry

I may have said that I don’t buy eggplant very often, but the farmers’ market goes a long way towards changing that behavior.  I bought Japanese eggplant this past weekend, and I wanted to make a stir fry with them.  I also bought a huge amount of basil because it was so cheap – only $2 for about 3 cups!  It’s hard to use that much basil before it gets wilty, so I thought I could include it in the stir fry and go in a Thai direction.  I would rather have had Thai or holy basil, but I make the most of what I’ve got.  I opted not to use fish sauce in this dish, as by omitting it the stir fry is vegan.  The dish can easily be modified to increase the heat; as this recipe is written, the stir fry is very mild.  A little squirt of Sriracha chili sauce wouldn’t hurt it if you want to keep it universally appealing!

Pud Makua Yow: Thai Basil Eggplant Stir Fry

  • 2 T peanut oil
  • 1/2 – 1 tsp sambal oelek (chili garlic paste)
  • 1/2 onion, cut in slivers
  • 4 – 6 cloves of garlic minced, 2 reserved
  • 1 -3 chili peppers, finely chopped
  • 2 Japanese eggplant, cut in irregular slices
  • 1/4 C vegetable broth
  • 3 T soy sauce, 2 reserved
  • 1 tsp. brown sugar
  • 1 T cornstarch
  • 1 tsp. sesame oil
  • 1/2 C basil leaves, torn
First, assemble your ingredients for the stir fry.  Chop the onion, hot pepper, 2 cloves of garlic, and eggplant; combine them in a bowl.  Then, prepare your sauce.  In a small dish, combine the 2 reserved tablespoons of soy sauce, the brown sugar, the sesame oil, and the reserved garlic.  In a separate small dish, dissolve the cornstarch in 2 tablespoons of water.  Set these aside.  Heat the peanut oil in a wok or large saute pan.  When the oil is hot, add the chopped vegetables and the sambal oelek.  Stir fry the vegetables for 5-6 minutes, adding the broth toward the end of the cooking time to keep the vegetables moist.  Season the veggies with a tablespoon of soy sauce, and stir fry for another minute.  Pour the sauce mixture over the stir fry, then the cornstarch mixture.  Stir well, then add most of the basil.  Let it wilt, then remove the pan from heat and serve.  Garnish with the remaining basil and serve over steamed rice.
Serves 2.

Changes Being Made Network Wide

Well, it’s certainly been a long time since we have had any sort of new look hit the blog. With the help of the newest RocketScience members  we have been making a lot of improvements for the network. Many will be seen by current members in the admin panel. We currently have plans to add in site tracking so that members can see the progress that we make. We are excited to have more traffic because that means we can update our network pages more quickly and efficiently than ever. Wasting less time worrying about manually tracking down data and showing it to each other and having to blog about it to current members. This just seems so much cleaner and effective to me.

Also we have currently emplemented a membership system to many of our sites so that we can provide premium content. This will serve a multitude of purposes including better content for our members and more motivation for our staff. Rest assured that much of our content will remain free, but some of the more intricate details that we’d rather not discuss without making something may be there, or perhaps extra membership goodies or other things that we think might be worthy to give to our paying subscribers. Further details will be applied as we decide the best path for each site. We are currently considering giving a network wide membership pass or single site pass this system would be manually updated by the admins for the multisite pass to avoid multiple fees to you the user.

Oh NO! My Windows Vista PC is Running Slow!

Well Rhett just discovered a new way to make your Windows Vista run faster. Turn off explorer.exe in the taskmanager and run your machine in this state. You will have a lot more memory to run the viruses that have infected your PC and so you will feel like your machine runs faster, thereby enabling you to stay in denial about the fact that you should just download an Ubuntu Linux distro and take the windows virus off of your computer before it destroys you. =)

UnChrome 1.1 – Google Chrome Utility

According to Google, their web  browser “Google Chrome is a browser that combines a minimal design with sophisticated technology to make the web faster, safer, and easier”. However Google Chrome assigns each user a unique ID that makes it easy to identify each user. UnChrome sets this ID to Null and only has to be run once for the changes to take effect.

The functionality of Google Chrome is not effected by this. If you are currently using Google Chrome please close all instances of Google Chrome before running this utility.
