Zad Roumaya

It’s been a long time since I’ve had the honor of working for this creative artist. I did some work on the early stages of one of Zad’s real estate developments on South Akard St. in Dallas Texas. Zad probably has no idea the kind of impression he really had on my outlook in those years. I still remember coming in late and him having a brief talk with me about me being late (it was a bad habit in those days). And most notably I remember how rather than chide me for it, or down talk me, he quite literally took it another direction towards the future.

I can’t remember the words but the impression he made stuck. I can’t continue doing this and expect to get anywhere, and if I’m serious about going somewhere in my life then I need to show it. Although it’s not a big deal right now it’s not just an occurance, it is something that with time becomes accepted as the norm and the never do today attitude what can be put off until tomorrow is going to leave me in the pool of mediocrity with the rest of the fish swimming along going nowhere.

His artwork and contemporary styling that was portrayed really affected a lot of my design tastes that I still carry to this day. If you live in the Dallas area and can buy one of his lofts they are truly awesome pieces of work. Here are some of the pictures that I was finally able to aquire for my online picture gallery. I did not take the pictures and I did not make the art I just really wanted to showcase the finished product that we were working on as well as some of his artwork that is displayed in downtown Dallas.

The photo to the left is from inside of Change Chamber Studios. I still remember thinking that the “Change” sign was an ironically bad idea for the area because we were being hit up for money every day. It’s one of the few areas I was a little unnerved at the thought of walking around in at night.

These lofts were designed as work studios as well and at the time seemed very contemporary. One of the first buyers to come into the development was Nicholas Rawlings.

This was one of my first encounters with the Unimog and watched as he brought these huge military vehicles into the workshop area. I would be interested to know how all of that worked out but it does appear that they have since moved The Mog Shop elsewhere in Dallas as reflected by their website. The following picture is of Nicholas and the photo is from their website.

Hacker: Obama’s ’spy-proof’ blackberry can be breached

Obama’s ’spy-proof’ blackberry can be breached, says world’s most famous hacker

Washington, February 14 : While U.S. President Barack Obama’s blackberry has been claimed to be a spy-proof device, the world’s most famous hacker Kevin Mitnick says that it can still be breached.

He said that Obama’s super-secure BlackBerry only makes cracking into it more challenging, but it can still be done.

“It’s a long shot, but it’s possible. You’d probably need to be pretty sophisticated, but there’s people out there who are,” Fox News quoted Mitnick as saying.

Mitnick served nearly five years in prison after pleading guilty to charges of wire and computer fraud for hacking into computer systems at some of the country’s largest cell-phone and computer companies during the 1990s, and he presently heads Mitnick Security Consulting.

“If I was the attacker, I would look to Obama’s close circle of friends, family and associates and try to compromise their machines at home. The objective would be to get Obama’s e-mail address on the BlackBerry,” Mitnick said.

He said that hackers might target a person with access to Obama because their networks would be much less secure than those used by the commander-in-chief.

Mitnick added that upon being armed with Obama’s coveted e-mail address, any hacker might send an e-mail to Obama in an attempt to lure him to a Web site that had previously been breached in order to transfer “malicious code”.

He, however, warned any potential hacker to consider the consequences before acting.

“The government would go after them full force,” he said.

Obama administration officials declined to comment on the issue.

Changes Being Made Network Wide

Well, it’s certainly been a long time since we have had any sort of new look hit the blog. With the help of the newest RocketScience members  we have been making a lot of improvements for the network. Many will be seen by current members in the admin panel. We currently have plans to add in site tracking so that members can see the progress that we make. We are excited to have more traffic because that means we can update our network pages more quickly and efficiently than ever. Wasting less time worrying about manually tracking down data and showing it to each other and having to blog about it to current members. This just seems so much cleaner and effective to me.

Also we have currently emplemented a membership system to many of our sites so that we can provide premium content. This will serve a multitude of purposes including better content for our members and more motivation for our staff. Rest assured that much of our content will remain free, but some of the more intricate details that we’d rather not discuss without making something may be there, or perhaps extra membership goodies or other things that we think might be worthy to give to our paying subscribers. Further details will be applied as we decide the best path for each site. We are currently considering giving a network wide membership pass or single site pass this system would be manually updated by the admins for the multisite pass to avoid multiple fees to you the user.
