Joomla? Time to take another look
It’s been a long time since I’ve even considered anything other than WordPress as a platform for my website. However I am looking at the new Joomla 1.5 and have noted that they claim they have simplified the administration interface. This is great news to me, I hated their old interface, it was difficult to understand, however Joomla itself was an amazing CMS.
WordPress seems a lot easier to understand to me, but maybe it’s just my comfort zone now. Joomla had some really good points, it’s templates were way more professional looking in most cases, or at least as I remember it, they had a much more polished selection.
Joomla had many of the features of WordPress long ago, but I just couldn’t get past the difficulty of the administration interface. But when WordPress updated to WordPress 2.7 I was amazed at the improvements in the administration interface, so I updated ALL of my installations to WordPress 2.7.
However, my friend Justin Williams from Brookshire Networks has told me that the administration has improved, and indeed the website confirms the same so I will be taking it for a test drive on one of my new projects that I haven’t planned out yet… :-/
