What you describe sounds like tapeworms. They usually appear as what looks like little pieces of rice around their bottom or you can sometimes even see them crawling. Many cats obtain these from fleas so you may need to do a flea treatment as well. You may be able to buy an over the counter treatment although I feel they sometimes are not as effective. You will also need an accurate weight on your cat as dosage is weight dependent. I understand how it is with scheduling but if your cat has been seen within the past year they may give you medication without seeing your cat. They may also have hours that work with your schedule or perhaps mail the medication to you. Good luck!
