Recovering from Surgeries with Kit Kat.

Kit Kat was born in September 2004. She was a one week old, flea infested kitty that found my 14-year-old
daughter. They soon became best friends, slept together and followed each other around. In July of 2005 I had knee
surgery with complications, a blood clot on the back of the knee. I was house bound for awhile and my daughter and
her kitty took care of me. During the day I had a machine that made my knee bend to get my knee working again. This
was painful and Kit Kat became my faithful friend, laying beside me, on top of me, and getting someone to help me get
up. I used a walker with help. Kit Kat would go find my mother, who lived with us, and meow or jump on her to get Mom
to come. When I went to bed to nap or sleep, Kit was right beside me. She would purr or rub her head on my hand or
arm. One night my pain was bad and my temperature went up and Kit went to find my daughter who was sound asleep.
She brushed her away and told her to go back to sleep. Kit did not give up; she bit my daughter on her nose! Kit took
off but waited on my daughter to follow. My daughter followed Kit Kat upstairs, to where I was, all sweaty and moaning.
My daughter helped me out and brought my temperature down. Did I mention my daughter gave me her room while I
recovered? My recovery was slow, but my daughter and her kitty took good care of me. I had therapy 5 days a week
to get my knee working for 6 to 8 weeks. When I got back, Kit Kat was always waiting for me. I went back to work part
time after 6 months. While working I hurt my back. The next day I could hardly walk or get out of bed. Kit Kat went to
get help. She was beside me keeping my back warm. We went to the ER. When we came home Kit was waiting for me in
the front window. She has been my faithful friend thru my knee surgery, bleeding ulcer, back surgery and my everyday
problems. Kit Kat will come get me to go to bed or to take a nap. I believe she can tell when I am in pain and need to rest.
She lies either besides my back or my knees. Yes, Kit Kat is my daughter’s cat, but sleeps with me and follows me around.
I love her. She is my best friend!
