Make Money Online Writing Articles

Let’s face it, everyone is trying to make money online these days, and why not? The internet is the only place you can start up a business with low to no overhead and still be able to compete with your already well established competition. But a good amount of potential webmasters give up because they don’t succeed as quickly as they had hoped.

Some would be webmasters have been trying for years to make money online and they still aren’t succeeding in living up to their goals. One thing many of these internet marketing gurus don’t tell you is that there is literally an ocean of competition out there so you have to stand out from the crowd to get noticed.

There are many ways to make money online and none of them are necessarily wrong, but it is of strategic importance to find out what works for you. If you have strong language skills and enjoy writing then you should consider article writing.

Writing articles online not only will give you great exposure to a wide and varied audience, if you establish a website then you can gain a significant amount of exposure by placing your links in your article or author box.

First, write a well-written article. Make sure you separate your sentences into paragraphs. Use paragraphs to separate ideas and be sure to let one paragraph flow smoothly into the next. Remember to write in one writing style and viewpoint. Try to write at least three sentences per paragraph.

Now that you’ve written your first article you need to proofread your article. Most of us have taken writing classes but everyone needs a refresher from time to time. And everyone makes errors. It is at this point that you should put your article into your favorite Rich Text Editor like Microsoft Word, Microsoft Works, or Corel if you didn’t use a text editor to begin with. The use your text editors spellchecking abilities and correct any errors that you find.

The third step can actually be done while you are writing once you are more experienced, but for now it’s probably best to just go back and do it later. Really it is a good idea to do both. You should always revise and edit your articles a minimum of three times. I would recommend that as the minimum standard for any article you publish, including free article submission. If you are planning on selling your article to a publisher such as Associated Content (http://associatedcontent.com) then you should strongly consider revising the article at least 5 times. This will ensure that you are putting out your best quality work. You can sell your article to Associated Content and they will give you $3-50 for articles that are over 400 words in length. They pay via Pay Pal three times a week for your articles on any subject that they accept.

Even if your article isn’t accepted by a paying publisher such as Associated Content, you can still submit it to free article directories ad at least get a lot of free exposure for traffic to your website and product landing pages. This will also create a large number of PR increasing back links to your website. You may even create a trickle effect to your sales and click pages that generates you income for many months to come.

If you use these steps you will over time create a compelling number of back links to your website and give yourself greater exposure to the masses, but how does that make you money? If you are still unclear about how this will make you money I suggest you continue reading my next article “Money Making Affiliate Programs”.

Squeeze Page Secrets

March 23, 2008 · Posted in News · Comment

A squeeze page generates leads where the main purpose of the page or site captures a name and email address. Usually no links to other pages like contact or privacy information exist.

Your squeeze page will allow your subscriber to download a gift like a free e-book or report. You need very good sales copy on the page that will make them want to give their name and email address to download your free gift. You can test the effectiveness of your squeeze page by using a tool like Google analytics and measure how many visitors actually convert to subscribers. 30% rates as a good figure. Audio and video added to your squeeze page could increase your conversion rate to as high as 50%.

You need to integrate your squeeze page with your mailing list or auto responder. This means you will have to put html in your squeeze page to opt in to your autoresponder. You also need to send your mailing list targeted email offers. So for example if your mailing list targets golf you can send an offer for sample golf balls. You need to mail responsibly otherwise you will lose subscribers as they opt out of your mailing list when you send spam mails.

The squeeze page technique seems very popular. All the top internet marketers use it and they recommend this technique to all their customers. The bigger your list the more money you make. However, one needs to refine the skill of list building as you only make money from subscribers who actually buy.

Are You Linking Your Way to Obscurity?

March 22, 2008 · Posted in News · Comment

Do you participate in link exchange? You may be confused about how having links on your website benefits you. In fact you could be linking your way into obscurity. Did you ever consider that each link to another website is an invitation to leave your site? Is that really what you want – to invite people to leave?

Your focus should be on getting more links pointing to your website. This increases your traffic and search engine rankings. However, the more outbound links you have on your webpage, the more it weakens your Google page rank as well you are asking your visitors
to click on those outbound links and visit someone elses website.

Search engines are really only interested in links to your site which are from a site that has similar content as your own. Apparently, there is evidence to suggest that having links from sites that are not relevant to the content of your own, can even damage your position with the search engines.

Link exchange can be a good thing but there are few things to keep in mind:

1.As said before having too many outbound links on your site invites your visitors to leave and may damage your search engine ranking.

2.Exchanging links with sites with poor quality content or a poor page rank can hurt your rankings.

3.Having a link directory on your site doesnt encourage Google to crawl your site more. And just because Google is crawling your site more, doesnt necessarily mean that you are going to improve your ranking.

4.If you must have outbound links make them worth your while ie. affiliate links or other promotions.

Yes, link exchanging can be helpful but there are other ways that you can get lots of inbound links for your site, without having to provide reciprocal links. And these methods tend to be more effective.

1. Write short articles, 300 to 500 words, on subjects closely related to your site, and then distribute them over the internet through various article directories. People who are looking for content for their websites, or newsletters, can then look through the article directories to find fresh content. If they choose to publish your article, they then have to include a link back to your website from their site. Just a few articles can get you 50 inbound links.

2. Submit a press release – this won’t always get you a large number of inbound links, but it can get you top ten listing.

3. Make sure your site is listed in some of the directories across the internet.

4. Start an affiliate program.

5. Create a viral marketing campaign. You could try a free short ebook that contains some useful information, and a link back to your site, which people are allowed to distribute freely.

The last thing you want to do is to link your way out of business. Be wise when you participate in link exchange and apply some other methods to gain quality traffic to your website.

You Need a Comprehensive Plan to Increase Website Traffic

March 21, 2008 · Posted in News · Comment

There is a lot more to hatching plans to increase website traffic than simply trying to use tricks to lure unsuspecting visitors to your site. Sure, this type of thing may get people there who may enjoy what you have to offer, but you can’t be sure your tactics will be effective. What if the person is the type who will glance around for a moment and decide to be somewhere else instead? When you increase website traffic, you have to get the right people to your site. What you really need to increase website traffic is to lure people who absolutely have to have what you’re offering or the information you present. What you need is quality traffic.

The way to increase website traffic that will work best for your site is to use a two-prong approach. First, you have to appeal to the search engines. If the search engines don’t know about your site, the people who would want to visit your site won’t know about it. In order to get the search engines’ attention, you have to use keywords, and use them well. One way to do that is to place them in the title of your website, and in the titles of your pages or posts. Keyword usage is a great tool to improve your search engine rankings. Other things like updating your site often help as well.

Many people stop there. They think that if they can just put enough spider bait in their sites, they will increase website traffic to the point of making the site successful. Some even use less-than-ethical techniques like burying keywords outside the website and clustering keywords in the site, creating text that isn’t pleasant to read and sometimes doesn’t make a lot of sense. Search engine spiders are getting wise to that sort of thing and penalizing websites, but that type of tactic also tends to turn actual human beings away as well. What you need to do to get more quality traffic to your site is to make sure that once people come they will enjoy what they find.

That means you need to focus your content, make sure it is good content, and make sure the content is what it says it is. Nothing turns off a potential customer or reader like false advertising or the old bait-and-switch routine. Don’t lure someone to your site with promises of tutorials only to show them a site that is 10-percent tutorials and 90-percent advertisement for your book. If the site is about your book, state up front that it’s about your book. Nothing will increase website traffic like good content that is focused and delivers what is promised.

One of the other options to increase website traffic is to buy traffic to your site, which can be a good alternative for those who earn revenue from third-party advertisements and clicks. If you’re looking for quality traffic that earns you revenue from return customers, though, bought traffic may not be the best solution for your internet needs.
